Essential Gear and Backpack Fitting
This session provides a comprehensive overview of essential backcountry gear, including tents, sleeping bags, and cooking equipment. Participants will learn how to properly fit and adjust a backpack for maximum comfort and efficiency, as well as best practices for weight distribution to enhance endurance on the trail.

Trip Planning and Preparation
Participants will learn how to select a suitable destination, assess trail conditions, and plan an effective route. This session covers essential considerations such as permits, safety measures, weather forecasting, and optimal trip timing. It also includes an introduction to GPS devices and two-way communication tools (e.g., Garmin inReach, ZOLEO) for navigation and emergency preparedness. Additionally, participants will review useful mobile applications for mapping, weather tracking, and trip logistics.

Water Treatment and Purification
Participants will explore various methods for treating water in the backcountry. The differences between water filters and purifiers will be explained, helping participants choose the most appropriate method for their trip. This session covers how to locate and collect safe drinking water while minimizing environmental impact.

Food Preparation and Storage
This session focuses on meal planning strategies, high-energy food options, and efficient food packing techniques. Participants will learn safe and effective food storage methods to prevent contamination and attractants in the backcountry. The session also includes an introduction to different camp coffee brewing techniques, such as pour-over, AeroPress, instant, and cowboy coffee.

Bear Safety and Camp Set-up
Participants will gain an understanding of how to establish a bear-safe campsite, including proper food storage techniques such as bear hangs and canisters. This session also covers campsite selection, minimizing environmental impact, and campfire safety protocols to ensure responsible and low-impact camping practices.

Hands-On Gear Demonstration and Q&A
Interactive session where participants can test gear, practice backpack adjustments, and try water filtration methods. Includes a hands-on demonstration of tent and sleeping pad set-up, different types of camp coffee brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, AeroPress, instant, cowboy coffee), and food bag hangs.
