Experience one of the most iconic alpine landscapes in the Canadian Rockies on a challenging women’s backpacking adventure through Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park and into Banff National Park. Often referred to as the “Matterhorn of the Rockies,” Mount Assiniboine is known for dramatic peaks, turquoise lakes, larch-filled valleys, and world-class mountain scenery.
This 5-day, 4-night trip is designed for experienced hikers seeking a physically demanding and rewarding backcountry experience. To avoid a lengthy ascent with heavy packs, the trip begins with a helicopter flight into Assiniboine Lodge, followed by three nights based at Lake Magog Campground and a final night at Marvel Lake before hiking out to Mount Shark Trailhead. Participants will carry their own personal gear while group safety, navigation, and kitchen equipment is provided.
Expect long hiking days, day hikes filled with elevation gain, rugged terrain, and rapidly changing conditions. This trip is best suited for strong hikers with prior backpacking experience who are comfortable hiking consecutive days.

This route travels through grizzly bear habitat. Participants must be comfortable hiking and camping in bear country and strictly follow all guide instructions related to food storage, group travel, and wildlife safety.
The guide has previously trekked through Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, including Lake Magog and The Nub, but the outbound route differed from this itinerary (e.g., she accessed from Sunshine).
Weather in the Rockies in early September can be highly variable and may include rain, freezing temperatures, snow, smoke, and wind. Delays, route adjustments, campsite changes, or itinerary modifications may be required for safety.
Helicopter schedules are weather dependent and subject to availability, delays, or cancellation. Alternate plans may be required if flight operations are affected. Flight times are not confirmed until the day prior to travel.
Distances listed are approximate and may vary depending on campsite assignments, trail conditions, and route decisions made on trip.
Only 4 tent pads have been reserved and therefore trip participants may be partnered with another depending on the number of sign-ups.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations made 30+ days in advance of the departure are fully refundable, minus a 5% administrative and Square processing fee. Cancellations made outside of the 30-day window are non-refundable. However, all trips are transferable to another qualified woman aged 18 or older prior to trip departure.
A minimum of 3 participants are required to run this trip. Registrants will be fully refunded if 3+ people have not registered 2 weeks in advance of departure.
